GHDC: Upcoming Conference

Strengthening Intergenerational Communities
to Address Social Challenges

We invite you to attend our Fall 2008 conference on November 12th and 13th at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook in Oak Brook, Illinois. This conference will promote the development of intergenerational communities and suggest changes in public policy and service systems to make room for community-based responses to social problems. As intentional intergenerational communities become more prevalent, the gifts and talents of ordinary people will become available in new ways, creating innovative solutions to a multitude of social challenges.

The purpose of this conference is to 1) connect and unite people to strengthen intergenerational communities to address social challenges; 2) introduce lessons learned from Generations of Hope Communities; and 3) discuss opportunities for collaboration on research, evaluation, and policy reform.

Topics to be addressed include architecture and site design, financing models for GHCs, aging in community, communicating with stakeholders and policy makers, planning for research and evaluation, and advocating for public policy change.

Registration fee is $250 on or before October 1st and $350 after October 1st. All registrations must be received by October 24th.

In addition to the day-and-a-half program, your registration fee also includes dinner on Wednesday evening, and breakfast and lunch on Thursday.

Early registration is advised as conference registration is limited.

Attendees are responsible for their own travel and hotel costs.
